2023-2024 Tree Trimming Schedule

The trimming of trees that pose obstructions in public rights-of-way and streets has begun and will continue throughout the winter. The streets indicated on the 2023-2024 Tree Trimming Map are the focus areas.  This work is weather permitting.

Right-of-way or Boulevard Area

Most trees and shrubs need pruning at some time, and plantings in the right-of-way are no exception. City staff maintains the rights-of-way and is trained and experienced in the latest pruning techniques. Staff also prunes trees or shrubs on private property that cause either a visibility or safety concern on public property.

  • Trimming corrects defective form that can result in branch failure during windstorms
  • Removing broken or damaged limbs encourages wound closure
  • Trees respond well to dormant season pruning
  • Pruning in the dormant period maximizes wound closure in the growing season and reduces the chance of transmitting disease
