- South McCarrons Retaining Wall Project
The City is starting the design process to replace the large retaining wall on the south side of South McCarrons Boulevard between Woodruff Avenue and Glenwood Street due to the condition of the existing retaining wall. See the Location Map. The existing wall is not in immediate danger of failure, but is showing signs it will need to be replaced in the next few years. Staff is monitoring the wall for any indication that it is getting worse. Over the summer of 2022, the City will work with its consultant to design a replacement wall. The City will work with nearby residents to discuss impacts and get input on wall design features.
A second neighborhood meeting was held Thursday, September 29, at 6:00 p.m. at Villa Park Building 2055 Cohansey Boulevard. At the meeting, staff presented the wall design-type, the anticipated impact, construction process and schedule, along with options for the appearance of the new wall. Materials presented are posted in the links on the right following the meeting.
A neighborhood meeting was held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. on-site at the retaining wall. Staff gave a brief overview of the need for the project, our anticipated schedule, possible impacts and discussion of future input from the neighborhood. The handout from the presentation and summary of the feedback residents shared is available in the links on the right.
