Enrichment Mini-Camps

These morning-only mini-camps have been modified in accordance with CDC and MN Dept. of Health guidelines for youth programming during the COVID-19 pandemic.* Campers will enjoy mornings of fun education adapted for social distancing and proper personal hygiene.

*Please note: all summer program plans are tentative and may be adjusted to reflect additional guidance from federal, state, or City of Roseville officials.

Garden Explorers - Backyard Bounty

Muriel Sahlin Arboretum
Ages 6-10

Plant a garden during this active, hands-on gardening adventure! You will explore developing a garden, caring for your plants, and harvesting your bounty. You will learn what is in soil, which animals can help you, and how plants grow. You will also enjoy some fun experiments, creative craft projects and active games, as well as tasting and preparing foods with garden produce. After this starting week, you will be able to visit and tend to your garden for the rest of the summer and harvest your own produce.

Cooking Across America 

FOR Parks Shelter
Ages 7-11

Explore a variety of foods made coast to coast in the USA! You will prepare foods each day from a different region within the United States, including Southwest, California Coast, Appalachia, Southeast, and Native North America. Make and eat soups, snacks, main dishes and desserts, from avocado toast to garlic ice cream. Between recipes, you will learn and play games enjoyed in each area of the country. You will also collect your favorite recipes in a recipe book to share.

World Kitchens

FOR Parks Shelter 
Ages 7-11

Get your taste buds ready to travel around the world! You will cook foods each day from a different country, including Norway, Germany, Somalia, Japan, and Ukraine. Make and eat appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts, from savory pierogis to sweet krumkake. Between recipes, you will learn and play games from each world region. You will also collect your favorite recipes and create a recipe book to take home with you.

Backyard Builders

FOR Parks Shelter 
Ages 7-11

Put on your thinking caps and tighten your tool belts for this exploration of things you can build and use in your own back yard. Use and develop your building skills to complete construction projects every day. You will explore the qualities of light and use them to build a kaleidoscope, a periscope, a solar car, a mosaic sun catcher, and a flower press.
